What is P2P?

P2P = Peer to Peer Networking

P2P aims to enrich the professional development of Lakeland's young professionals by partnering them with existing EMERGE Lakeland members.

CONNECT

P2P will provide a means for local businesses to engage young professionals for personal and professional development opportunities. P2P participants will become better acquainted with the market, EMERGE Lakeland, and the parent organizations. This program will also provide P2P member only opportunities to attend seminars to improve professional skills and to provide networking opportunities.

RETAIN

P2P will provide a method for local businesses to connect their young professionals to like-minded members of the community who have similar goals, interest and attitudes. P2P will establish a retention vehicle for local Human Resource professionals to refer newly hired, or relocated, or other young professionals to an organization that can enhance their experience in the Lakeland community with a mission to help them connect to Lakeland with a mission to help them "better" connect to Lakeland.

VOLUNTEER

P2P will provide opportunities for the non-profit sector to connect with young professionals interested in contributing time, assume leadership positions, and possibly contribute to their respective causes. P2P will also become a resource pool of available young professionals to serve in volunteer capacities such as board membership, committee participants and event planners.

P2P = PEER TO PEER NETWORKING

25 P2P members (non-EMERGE Lakeland or existing EMERGE Lakeland members) and 10 current EMERGE Lakeland advisors will participate in the program. The program application period will be July 1 - July 31, 2009. The Program year will be August 1, 2009 - May 15, 2010.

All newly engaged young professionals will participate in two Emerge Lakeland membership programs in four specifically designed P2P events or activities.
